But its not a stroll in the park..

PJF turned up at Ashtead Park on a bright but chilly day wanting to put on a performance after their last disappointng outing against Chipstead. The first half started well with some incisive running and sharp handling. After the first score PJF took their foot off the peddle and allowed Freemens to come back at them. PJF were put under a sustained period of pressure which culminated in Freemens crossing the whitewash out wide, on the right. Unlike PJF, Freemens were unable to add the extras. It wasn't until late on in the second half that Josh Anoop gathered the ball out on the right wing and ran the final 20 metres to score the first of his hat trick of tries. The score was 5-12 at half time.

The second half began and PJF had settled down after a fragmented performance in the first half which was in no small part due to a spirited performance from Freemens. The forwards provided a solid platform for the backs to perform. The next try came form a number 8 pickup and Callum Henry forced his way over under the posts. The next score saw Josh Anoop go over for the fourth, bonus point try of the afternoon. Freemens though, were not a spent force and had a period of pressure resulting in a try mid way through the second half. With the score at 12-26 PJF continued to press and were rewarded by a try from the left wing, George Goldspink. Despite PJF dominating the score board they still were not playing to the plan when they got into the Freemens red zone. But the final try saw Josh complete his hat trick with the best score of the afternoon when he cut in, against the grain, and sliced through the Freemens line like a hot knife going through butter. PJF finished the game 12-40 winners. Whilst the score made the game look easy, Freemens put up a spirited performance and we wish them well as they try to rebuild after a difficult first half of the season.

The day showed that if PJF stick to the plan and hit their lines of running they will improve on some of the disappointing performances of this mid-season period. On Saturday, PJF welcome O Amplefordians to the Pightle, who will be a tougher proposition having beaten O Cats this last week. Come along and support the lads. The kick off is at 2.00pm. We look forward to seeing you this Saturday.
