Campbell-Carson opened PJF’s account seizing on good, re-cycled possession in open play, breaking the defence line from 22 metres out and crossing the line. This was followed by a similar score as Fox at fly half kept the scoreboard ticking over. In between Sidcup fought back with a try converted by their kicker.
PJF’s dominance in the set pieces formed a solid base yet again almost taking their opponents ball at will. This strong scrummaging led to a push over try scored by the impressive No 8 Gallagher. Lorraine and Bourke secured good lineout ball and from one such take the PJF pack drove for the line allowing Booth to secure another 5 points for his team.
To give them their due, Sidcup kept the faith and snapped continually at PJF’s heels. Sorrell notched 2 penalties to keep them at bay during the match and sealed his day’s work with a conversion.
Although the match was well balanced and close, PJF felt they should have closed the game out earlier than the final whistle. But it was a valuable win and underlined the quality of sides in this League that PJF must overcome in order to complete a successful season.
Next week PJF visit Old Elthamians who are currently third in the League.
