Every small step is a progression toward the greater goal

A fantastic weekend for PJF. Two wins against local rivals. The first team played some magnificent rugby in their 47-24 league win over Chipstead. The Marlins were equally spectacular, particularly when you consider they played with 13 men throughout their match. The Marlins ran out 30-10 victors against Chipstead. To top it all off the minis in their fourth week have grown to 26 youngsters with 13 in the U7 age group which means that PJF will be entering sides in minis competitions for the first time ever this year. Looking at the balance and poise of some of the youngsters I would say their is some great talent in the group, and they are not all boys!
But there is a long way to go before the club achieves its goals and it wouldn't be possible but for the dedication and determination of a team of people, Luke (O'Shea), Bryan Whicher, Pat Liddiard, Julian and Marie Emmanuel, Tim Wood, Julian Cashinella, Paul Edwards, Chris Doyle Iain Greenwood, Julian Norton, Brendan Hession and all the minis coaches who put in an enormous amount of work behind the scenes along with the volunteers who go the extra mile for the club. I would also like to thank Jess who has been brilliant as club physio and Rhodri who has joined the club as head coach this year. I have been impressed by the quiet way Rhodri has gone about the work of giving the team structure in what they do. Rhodri's contribution is really beginning to show, and those watching the game against Chipstead will have noticed how often the forwards featured in the open attacking play as well as making the hard yards.
We are beginning to form teams within the club that can really drive us forward. Lastly the ultimate praise has to go to the players whose friendship and comradery make the club something precious and worth while. Onwards and, keep on fighting, upwards.
