PJF enjoy a resurgence in 2026

PJF enjoy a resurgence in 2026

Niel Kenny3 Feb - 11:50

Plenty of things to build on.

Having endured a miserable end to 2025 due to injuries, PJF have enjoyed a bit of a resurgence in 2026 winning three games on the bounce. The first game against O Cranleighians, away, we looked a little ring rusty and conceded a soft try early on. Then PJF asserted themselve and went on to win 19-41. The following week saw PJF come up against a dogged O Amplefordians in a fixture that rarely has the sides more than a few points apartat full time. So it proved againg with PJF again conceding first but eventually running out 26-19 winners and then conceding late on in the came which made the score closer than it should have been. Last Saturday PJF had another home fixture against OH Exiles. In this game PJF started strongly but squandered several scoring opportunities before scoring a penalty. From the restart PJF came back strongly and crossed the white wash for a well earned try. The extras were added. PJF dominated the first half and extended their lead just before half time to 13-0 with the addition of another penalty. In the second half PJF went to sleep and allowed OH back into trhe game. Their first score, an unconverted try, their second score about 5 minutes later a converted try making it a one point game. With around 12 minutes remaining PJF awoke from their second half slumbers and reasserted their dominance which was rewarded with a last minute try which was not converted, giving PJF an 18-12 victory. PJF had pullled off a good win against a side that traditionally had the edge over PJF in recent games by the odd point or two. Hopefully PJF can take their improved form to O Whitgiftians on Saturday, February 14th and continue their upward climb in the league.
Elsewhere in the Club, the U12s and U13s started their Waterfall Cup campaigns. The U12s first outing was away against a strong Chobham side which put up stern resistance and PJF eventually ran out 4-8 winners Their second game saw them travel down to a muddy Haslemere, again they triumphed 1-10. Their next fixture sees the U12s travel to London Scottish at Barnes.
Meanwhile the U13s took on Teddington at home in their first round notching up a 7-1 lead which saw them declared te winners. The game was then continued as a friendly with the final score being 8-4.
The following week saw the U13s host London Irish. Both sides played some excellent rugby with the game finishing 4-4.
Last Sunday saw the side travel up to Warlingham which was a mud bath. Inspite of the difficult conditions PJF triumphed 1-5. This week the U13s travel to O Rutlishians in Merton.
So January has been a good month with some great performances from the club. PJF are now looking to build on those performances and improve their standing in all competitions
