Pat Liddiard reported the passing of Jeff Reid who taught at the school for over 35 years from the early 70s to around 2007. Pat goes on to say, " Jeff, as I’m sure many will remember, was a true character who was selfless in giving his time, talent, interests & expertise to multitudes of students. He was Head of the History Department; had a spell as Head of Year7; for many years Jeff ran the very successful School Cross Country team; following that he coached the U.12 rugby team for a number of seasons; he organised ski trips for the Upper School boys year after year; and organised mountaineering and hiking trips to Snowdonia, Scotland and The Lake District frequently; additionally (as if that was not enough) he organised and led 6th Form trips to Kenya on at least 2 occasions in the Summer Holiday. His wife, Clare, told me that he was never there for her birthday (15th July) as he was always somewhere with boys from the school.

Jeff loved teaching and helping young people achieve their potential in life.
Jeff had been the victim of dementia for some years which, as is the way, had become progressively worse resulting in him being in care for the past 12 months.

The school was very lucky to have had a clutch of dedicated teachers over the years. Jeff was among the very best of them. Our condolences and deepest sympathies go out to his family. He will be remembered in all our prayers."
Following the sad news of Jeff Reid's passing last week, we have now been provided with the details of the funeral.

Jeff’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 9th August at 12.45 at The Surrey and Sussex Crematorium (near Crawley). The post-Service gathering will be at The Cowdray Arms (RH17 6QD), a short drive away.
