Great weekend for PJF

Niel Kenny23 Mar - 17:51

Seniors beat Chipstead, U12s and U13s unbeaten in their Waterfall Cup groups

A really great weekend that all at PJF could enjoy. On Saturday the seniors took on Chipstead. The game set off at a quick pace and the fine weather seemed to be to the liking of the PJF backs who ran well and delivered a haul of six fine tries. The forwards worked hard throughout the game and managed to gain an advantage over their opponents giving the backs the space to launch their attacks. As a result PJF ran out 5-34 winners. In the league, ll the teams around PJF also won meaning that we did not improve our league position. Next week PJF entertain Met Police at the Pightle. Kick off at 3.00pm. Come along and support the lads and help them to maintain their winning ways.

On Sunday, the Juniors and minis took centre stage. The minis in the huge Surrey festival that was spread over several grounds. The U7s and U8s were at Esher, the U9s down at Camberley, the U10s at Rosslyn Park and the U11s at Cobham. All the sides did wonderfully well in a fantastic morning's rugby. Lots of endeavour, plenty of smiles and a lot of fun. Every single youngster should be congratulated and they all have the right to be very proud of themselves, the club was enormously proud of them all. A big thank you to all the parents who support the youngsters, particularly thos with a child in more than one age group for contending with the logistical nightmare of trying to get evryone to te correct venue. And a big thank you to all the coaches who managed the events so well.

In the after noon the juniors took part in he Waterfall cup finals. The U12s in the gold final at Reigatians took on a good Farnham side. All the spectators were treated to a battle royal in which every youngster from both sides gave their all. PJF running out victors by the narrowest of margins 4 tries to 3. The second year in a row that PJF has won its respective final at U12s. No pressure then for Velly and his U11s for next year...

At Esher, the U13s took part in the bronze final. Although unbeaten in the earlier rounds, PJF drew with Ldn Irish who went on to score more tries against the other opposition in the group. In the Bronze final PJF took on Reigatians, and, although missing a couple of regular players through injury and going a try down in a hard fought first half, PJF eventually ran out winners 4 tries to 1. A fantastic performance meaning that both the U12s and U13s finished their Waterfall Cup campaigns unbeaten. Well done to all the players and coaches, and a special thank you to all the parents who have supported the boys throughout.
