Wow, what a great weekend. It kicked off with a great lunch at the Pightle with 45 sitting down to Christmas lunch. We welcomed guests from Walcountians and we all sat down to a great lunch put on by Bryan (Whicher) ably assisted by Mark Noble. A big thank you to both. Luke and Siobhan provided great support by running the bar.
It was great to see so many old friends up at the Pightle enjoying themselves in the true tradition of rugby.
After lunch we all saw PJF narrowly win an exciting match 13-3 against league topping Walcountians. A tremendous performance by a side that suffered a few late call offs on the Saturday morning through illness.
The Marlins also playing at home fielded a very young side that had a hard game against Walcountians. Although they performed creditably their inexperience was shown up. But they should not be too down hearted as the step up to senior rugby is very different to the rugby played at school. But persevere and they will soon be handing out their own lessons.
Sunday at the Pightle saw Father Christmas accompanied by a giant elf entertaining the Minis at their Christmas party. Judging by the nose they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A massive thanks needs to go to Brendan Hession and his team who have started the section from scratch and have achieved so much happiness I such a short time.
We also congratulate Dave Cebreiro for winning this year's big £1,000 draw form the '200' Club.
All that is left to do is thank all of our supporters and sponsors for their support and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.
The next lunch at the Pightle will be held on February 1st before the return fixture against Whitgiftians, we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
