Marlins win again

The Marlins started strongly and put Reigatians under a lot of pressure during the opening 10 minutes of the game. PJF then conceded a series of penalties that allowed Reigatians to work their way up the pitch and eventually open the scoring with a try in the corner. The match then went through a scrappy period with the Marlins trying to re-establish their dominance. A kick into the corner allowed PJF to establish a platform from which the opening try was scored on about 20 minutes. The Marlins dominant scrum should have seen the side go over for more tries but indiscipline saw a succession of penalties conceded which meant that the pressure on the Reigatians line could not be sustained and it wasn't until five minutes before half time that the home side went over for their second try. Again the conversion was missed. The second half saw a number of changes with Tom Parker coming on for his first game of the season. Continuing infringements by the Marlins allowed Reigatians to exert a period of pressure which went unrewarded and some ambitious rugby saw PJF sweep up the pitch for a third try. This was followed by a fourth after another glimpse of the sides potential. With a 15 point cushion the foot came of the gas and this allowed Reigatians to capitalise on an overlap and their winger went over in the corner and touched down under the posts. The extra points were added. The Marlins then took back control of the game with two further tries from some terrific back play built on a solid platform established by the forwards who were dominant in the set scrums. The final try being scored on the final whistle. The game had been scrappy and its flow broken by the series of penalties against the home side. Reigatians had played their part and had made the Marlins battle hard throughout the whole game. There were some very good performances from the PJF player particularly in the first half when they had to turn around the disappointment of conceding the first try. The win sees the Marlins consolidate their lead in their league.
