A team effort with a comms package!

Marlins travelled to another grammar, though surprisingly there were four football pitches and one rugby pitch!
A well prepared Marlins side were put under pressure from the kick-off, through some intelligent kicking, and exacerbated by poor communication, though PJFRFC were able to count on the skills of marauding Tony Mawer and captain Paddy O'Neil to clean up at breakdowns and secure ball against the run of play. The ensuing pass wide through Half backs Will Walters and Tom Parker, was gathered by Reem, to start the score for PJFRFC, and lead 5-0. Old Suttonians kept up the pressure on PJFRFC, utilizing the wind on their backs to kick deep into PJFRFC half, though excellent communication in open play and breakdowns, enabled PJFRFC forwards to support their half backs, and set up excellent passages of play through the middle, Dan Wright and Tom White made the hard yards, in turn the half backs were then able to aptly distribute the ball wide to Centres Ben Tompkins and Kareem Mackenzie. Old Suttonians did well to contain the midfield attack through some fierce tackling. Though the pressure took its toll, and Ben Tompkins Bulldozed his way through a tired defence to score PJFRFC's second try and lead 10-0. Old Suttonians sprung into attack, and utilized the wind with intelligent kicking again, to camp in the PJFRFC half, though a determined defensive display in midfield by Ben Tompkins, Reem aided by their back row forwards Pete Bates, Tony Mawer and Dan Wright helped PJFRFC keep a clean sheet. One such Suttonian attacking move was foiled and ensuing spilt ball dribbled away by Reem and Tompkins, reminiscent of Ronaldo's spell at Manchester, culminating in an easy pick up and score for Reem. PJFRFC now led 15-0 at half time.

PJFRFC started the second half where they left off, with half backs distributing the ball equally between forwards and backs, to catch out Old Suttonians well aligned defence. PJFRFC also attacked space behind the rucks, the so called no-man's land, effectively and selectively, showing maturity, and Pete Bates was able to run 40 yards to score, PJFRFC's fourth try, and lead 20-0. PJFRFC were determined to seal the game. They were able to maintain dominance at line-outs and Scrum's, even winning a few against the head, thanks to a well established front row team of Tom White, Perry Clark and Paddy O'Neill. This led to poor discipline among the opposition ranks, and decisive kicking to penalize, PJRFC then utilized their air power through Pete Bates and Tony Mawer, and in turn set up a rolling maul, and then hand the ball out wide to PJRFC's Carling Guscott combination, who in turn exchanged passes, for Ben rompkins second try and lead 25-0. PJFRFC were determined to keep a clean sheet, and did well to manage this till the dying moments of the game, and only through a penalty try, to win 25-7.

Marlins will be pleased with this result, with young players stepping up to show depth in the squad. Marlins entertain Raccal Decca at home next weeek.
