This fixture against Old Suttonians was an excellent showcase of youthful talent at PJRFC, which in turn inspired Open rugby flowing between forwards and backs. The young Irishman Jeff at scrum half, certainly made the most of the space out wide, and aided with excellent delivery through Norm at 10 let Kareem and Rowan (centres) free to roam the plains of the Phightle, this produced excellent links with the back row, which Pete Damo and Paddy made good use of to link with the backs. Scoring 7 tries between the backs and back row. Alex Crane took on the ball carrying role well, making many yards through what seemed like pods of opponents! The PJRFC line out was very strong with PJRFC stealing quite a few opponents throws thanks to Pete and Simon. Paddy stepped up to captaincy starting where O'Connel left off, and rumour has it that this is captain in waiting!!. Old Suttonians made some excellent breaks from the base of the scrum and penalised PJRFC for poor discipline. The game was played in the right spirit, though the Phightle Panther spirit of attacking defence did diminish the opponents from 18 to 13 players on the pitch towards the end of the game. Marlins have had a run of 10 games and have a weekend off.
