A great game of rugby filled with much drama and twists. This fixture lived up to expectations. PJRFC started with an early score with inside centre Ben Tompkins making 40 yards for his try, though this awoke the sleeping giant and Mitcham defended through some ferocious tackling to stop PJRFC converting possession into points, and scored 2 converted tries through aggressive counter rucking and missed tackles by PJRFC. PJRFC came back with a second try, but trailed 14-10 at half time. The leadership offered by past captains really began to tell with Dave Mole and Tony Mower along with Neil Leather stamping down their authority. PJRFC coined a new term, "dogging it wide" and avoid the bystanders blowing through their apertures!! This translated into some early ball to the backs and two fantastic tries by Kareem the out side centre and Pete in second row. Mitcham also made several forays into PJRFC territory, only to be stopped yards from scoring, thanks to some chopping (as the opposition called it) tackles by Jules Del paddy, Bysh and Dan. Dynamo Damo also worked his majic dummy kick dance perfection to score again. Mitcham came back with a last ditch attempt to score the final try with 30 seconds to go, to end the drama that had been a game full of flair and fun throughout. PJRFC won this game with 14 men, though they did try limiting the opposition options through ferocious tackling, and will take much heart from this away win
