Excellent showing by young Marlins against a spirited Chipstead side

PJF working off a solid base provided by their forwards released their exciting backline to use the space created. Going up the hill in the first half PJF made light work of the slope to run in a hat full of tries which should have created the expectation that PJF would cut the Chipstead side to ribbons. PJF managed to keep the score board ticking over but it didn't turn into the deluge of points that might have been expected. This was down to the spirited Chipstead side that, although up against it, did not give up and in the closing minutes they got their reward of a consolation try. PJF can take a lot of heart from this Marlins display as there are signs that the club is starting to develop some depth in certain positions and this will bode well for the future. Julian Emmanuel, the Marlins Captain adds:
"The final score of 56-5 didn't reflect the hard fought encounter. There was some ferocious tackling on display from both sides. The youthful midfield thanks largely in part to "godfather" Machugh taking matters into his own hands to ensure his sponsorship deal of the club comes true! Son Barnaby and out-law to be Charlie adding youth and panache to the back line along with Bryn, who scored more than a hat-trick of tries. The PJF forwards dominated much of the lineout's and scrummage, thanks to an excellent mix of youth and experience, though at times the pace of the game forced a few seniors utilising the rolling sub option for "f** breaks" to keep their legs fresh! Tom white added much muscle to the front five, with Dan Wright, Ben Tompkins Paddy and mowing Mawer making some cheeky blind side runs and grab your gum shield tackles. Third time sleepless dad Del Boy ran 20 yards across the pitch to make much needed 5 yards to wind up the score card for PJF. Though Chipstead had the final say with a much deserved try in the last few seconds of the game.

The Marlins are at home this weekend, and as we are adopting Mourinho's rotational policy, we are in much need of fresh blood so do please call and be counted."
