PJF’s Marlin XV entertained Sutton and Epsom and treated them to a 36-12 defeat.
Tries by Chase Thompson, Ollie Davies, Miles Whicher, Norm Collier and Dan Crumplin saw the home side through. Captain Julian Emmauel said “it was a great game especially when you consider that we lost quite heavily to these guys earlier in the season. Today’s side was a good blend of youth and experience across the team. We played well”
Aaron Crossman was mentioned in dispatches as having a commanding game from Number 8, as he benefitted from the solid 5 in front of him. Dubai Dan Crumplin was his usual tiggerish self harassing the oppo at every opportunity and putting them on the back foot. Norm Collier and his "Mate" - aka the Derby Destroyers - cut some excellent lines deep into the opponents half, setting up good field position for PJF to attack in the Red Zone.
A slightly disturbing aspect of the game was when Tony Mawer (hissy, throwing toys out of pram, didn't get what I wanted for Christmas, fit) and Steve Bruck (why are we not surprised !) were Sin Binned leaving their teammates to contest a man short for 20 minutes of the game.
When it was pointed out to them that this constituted a 25% "down time" Steve's response was that he had been
"... disturbed by two comments from the younger fraternity in the changing room before the match. Firstly a remark that the match shirts seemed a bit baggy - unheard of at 2/3 team level - and Secondly he'd been asked if he had a spare hair band!!"
There will be an investigation into these remarks - such sizist and follicly challenged comments will not be tolerated. We are and always have been a fully Politically Correct Club. Nowhere is our commitment to this more evident than in the newly appointed role of Diversity and Inclusion Officer - Ched Evans, can be contacted .......
