Borrowing 3 from the oppo meant we had a game and we wish to thank Glyn, Tim and Peter for agreeing to make it a match.
The game fell in to 2 distinct areas; PJF were going to score through hard forward graft, take 10 minutes to move up the field and attack. On the other hand Beckenham would score in lightening breaks from deep in their half and run round the PJF side.
PJF managed to give a good account of themselves scoring 4 tries. The first was from a concerted effort in pick and drives up the pitch which saw flanker Glyn cross the whitewash. The second again came from continued retention and re-cycling which saw us pass the ball wide to Paul to score.
The second half started badly with us conceding two quick tries. We then knuckled down and worked our way into the opponents 22. From there the ever present and chippy scrum half Luke Cummins, harried the home side on their line and managed to sneak in on a dropped ball.
From a lineout hooker Dave Allen took an inside pop from the very good fly half Simon “Pretty Boy” Cripps, chewing the ground up Dave ran very fast and fed Luke who made it across for another try.
Man of the Match was equally shared between the impressive No 8 Adolphus Blackson who’s workrate kept us in the game and gave us a target to hit and the aforementioned Welsh chappie Luke. Well done to you both and also to the other guys who put the effort in to make the game. Your peers are suitably shamed.
