PJF cede to Tiffinians

A less than auspicious week this period for the Club as the 1st XV lost to mid table neighbours Tiffinians 23-11 who reversed the result from earlier in the season.
Purley John Fisher were still in the changing room when their hosts scored their first try within a few minutes of the kick off. From then on PJF were on the back foot as
Tiffinians took the game to them with a flourish. Whilst the forward battle was even stevens, it was the Home side's Fly Half who brought his A game and ran the show.
Pegging PJF back with deft kicks, releasing his sprightly back three and setting up his bulldozing centres he ensured PJF couldn't get out of their own half for much of the first 40 minutes.

It wasn't long before the score was mounting up and Tiffinians were in total control. PJF seemed to be chasing shadows and the energy and fight for the game seemed
mis-placed and out of sync with what was really happening. Despite this, good performances from Flanker Phil Jones, No 8 Liam Miles and Second row Ben Grundman did manage to get PJF on the score sheet. A Jones break fed Miles who crossed to score out wide. Grundman's endless carrying of the ball resulted in a couple of good field positions from where captain Dan Martin slotted a brace of penalties. However this was only short-lived as Tiffinians returned to the script and kept their noses in front.

PJF also mourned the loss of two former players this week as sadly Alan Davies and Ken Spain both passed away. The Club's thoughts and condolences are extended to
both their families and relatives at this very difficult time.
