With such a list it was hardly surprising that things didn't go too well this weekend at league leaders Tonbridge Juddians.
With an injury list that pretty much reads like a 1st XV selection, PJF relied on their resources to fulfill this fixture. The lack of time and training together showed as despite some bright moments and performances PJF succomb to the power and well drilled gameplan of TJ's. A lack of concentration around the breakdowns allowed the home side to penetrate the PJF defence and score relaibly on several occasions.
In all it felt as if there was a PJF lite side playing as the XV were caught in the headlights of their superior opponents and did not really have the conviction or belief in themselves to make much of a match of it. Yet from the sideline you can see that there is an ability there, it's almost as if they are afraid to let go of the apron strings and venture out themselves into the League. More confidence should come as the injured players return over the next few weeks, when PJF have identified that they should start to reap benefits from their fixtures.
Still to keep the League leaders within 40 odd points at home is no mean feat and PJF can take some positives from this as they again look to regroup and continue their season. Next week sees PJF playing Bognor in the EDF Intermediate cup.
