Poor communication and injuries lead to disastrous result

Whatever happened on the lead up to Saturday led to only 14 men taking the field against Haileyburians. The magnificent 14 stood and fought and earned the respect of their opponents. The forwards fought and fought for the full 80minutes and the backs tackled themselves to a standstill. The one thing Haileyburians did have were hard running backs and permanent first half overlap. Playing up the hill Haileyburians pressured the PJF line. The PJF forwards managing to earn the occasional rest bite battled manfully. Despite the effort PJF turn around 31 - 0 down. In the second half Connor Murphy arrived to take PJF up to complement. He had dashed from work having not been selected because of work commitments. In the second half PJF continued to put up stubborn resistance but now had to contend with the slope. However battle to the end they did and came away with a consolation try scored by Jacks who ran in under the posts after PJFs forwards had fought their way up the field. The final score of 69 - 7 was a heavy defeat, but PJF did not capitulate.
A couple of weeks ago things seemed to be going well. This week the season has taken a nose dive. As on so many occasions over the last five years it is PJF who are the authors of their own downfall. We must learn the lessons if we are to progress. Communication both on and off the pitch must be clear and timely. Personal discipline and respect for fellow club members in whichever side they play has to be paramount. With this painful lesson we must grow up to reach our full potential. The good news that came from this game was the character shown by the PJF players, the club should be proud of them. This Saturday PJF take a break from league action to welcome Uckfield to the Pightle in the Junior Vase. It is a chance to get the PJF wagon back on the road. Come and support the lads.
