But are not yet the finished article

PJF played the first half at a pace that Kingston found hard to cope with. But little handling mistakes prevented the home side from capitalising on their dominance. At half time PJF had a comfortable 15 point lead having run in three excellent tries. However at least three other opportunities were missed through taking the wrong final decision or a handling errors. When PJF get it right they are exciting to watch. The front five developed a solid platform allowing the backs to open up and spin the ball wide. Phil Jones had an immense game at 7 harrying the Kingston side and creating turn over after turn over. Jack at scrum half had a good game and was rewarded by one of the tries scored in the first half.
The second half had a very sluggish start with PJF letting Kingston to slow the game down and play at a pace the visitors could cope with. Jon Osborne had to go off with a knee injury which resulted in PJF losing their shape somewhat during the first 15 minutes of the half. Eventually the forwards started to re-establish their first half dominance giving the backs the room to open up and on 20 minutes PJF crossed the whitewash again for the bonus point try. What followed was a poor passage of play that saw PJF make a hash of the Kingston restart which allowed Kingston into the PJF 22m for one of the few occasions during the afternoon. Having reclaimed the ball in their 22m PJF tried to run it out and a poor pass and a fumbled ball saw Kingston claim possession. With the PJF backs all in all the wrong places as a result of the mistake Kingston had the simple job of crossing the undefended PJF goal line.
With the game entering the final 10 minutes and Kingston visibly flagging PJF saw their winger cross the line twice. The final try a sweeping majestic move that saw the ball travel the length of the pitch before scoring. With only one conversion being kicked PJF closed the game out at 32 -7.
A marked improvement on the previous week which reflected a good turn out at training on the Wednesday. If the side continues to improve the accuracy of their game and get a little smarter in the way yardage is made to conserve stamina the side will become very difficult to beat. But tougher tests await during the course of this season.
