PJF win the game and lose their gremlins

In a game where PJF spent much of the game defending they came out as winners thanks to a converted try in the last minute. Having taken the lead in the first half with a well struck penalty by Dan Wilkinson PJF allowed the Mids pack to dominate the set pieces and this resulted in a driving try just to the right of the posts. This was converted giving Mids the lead. PJF were the more creative side outside of the pack with Nick Owen and Ubake Onyekwelu causing problems for Mids in the middle of the field. The breakthrough happened on 30 minutes when Ubaka went over in the corner. Dan Wilkinson struck the conversion sweetly and saw it fly between the posts to establish a slender lead. The lead was extended early in the second half and Mids looked as though they were wilting. As the second half progressed their bigger pack started to re-assert their dominance and PJF's luck with the decisions seemed to run out, conceding a series of penalties in their half of the field. The pressure eventually told with Mids slipping a tackle and going over close to the posts. The try was converted and Mids had a one point lead. PJF continued to concede penalties and it was only a matter of time before Mids stretched their lead to 4 points which they duly did. The pressure continued on PJF and a couple of narrow escapes that were down to a mixture of good defence and poor decision making by Mids and it looked as though that Mids would see the game out. But there was a twist in the tale as PJF threw caution to the wind and ran it wide in their 22 with Ubaka breaking the line. As he approached the half way line Ubaka called Snadden on the wing to come inside and slipped the pass that beat Mids last line of defence and broke their hearts. So ended three years of misery in this fixture. All the penalty points imposed by the league for last season gone PJF are looking onwards and upwards.
