PJF started strongly and dominated the early exchanges. After 10 minutes of a continuous onslaught Chipstead broke out and created an overlap wide out on the left and they went over the PJF line and ran the ball in under the posts. The try was converted. PJF's confidence was knocked with nothing to show for all the pressure and it took a wonderful solo effort from Joe Dwyer who ran through the Chipstead side from just inside their 10m line to score under the posts. The try was ably converted by Dan Wilkinson. Ten minutes later Ubaka Oneykwelu broke the line to touch down midway between the touch line and the posts. Dan Wilkinson adding the conversion and a penalty in the half and Chipstead adding a penalty to their tally. The sides turned around at half time with PJF having a 17-10 lead.
The second half was a scrappy affair with both sides subject to some hard to understand refereeing decisions. PJF extended their lead with Ubaka Oneykwelu crossing the whitewash after a well worked passage of play. PJF then took their foot off the gas and saw Chipstead get back into the game with around 10 minutes to play. The game petered out and PJF had won a 22-15 game. PJF showed glimpses of what is still to come from this team that is still getting to know one another. Patience and work will see this team develop into a considerable force in this league.
