Purley John Fisher showed tremendous character to take 2 points from the visiting Bulls of Aylesford.

A gritty team performance saw them score 2 goals and a try. In spite of the scoreline PJF had to concentrate and make sure that Aylesford were unable to get any grip on the match. The re-jigged backline, a direct result of an extensive injury list, knitted together well and their defence penned the oppo into scoring 1 solitary penalty.

PJF's pack registered another fine performance that dominated the set pieces creating a solid platform and quality possession for their backs to use. From this base fly half and Man of the Match, Stuart Sorrel, kept the visitors firmly pegged in their own half with a series of well placed kicks from hand. PJF dominated the lineout where Bouf and Nick Wilson soared supreme. It was a blessing that the official sorted out Ceb's shoulders (God only knows how he has ever managed to scrummage before!), because up until that point PJF had only dominated the scrums. Afterwards they annihilated them - any possession that the opponents got was scrappy and under pressure.

A rare sortie into PJF's half resulted in Aylesford taking the scoring initiative through a penalty. PJF countered this by encamping in the visitor's half for the remainder of the half. On the stroke of half time a series of set drives and recycled possession eventually led to a try off the back of a maul.

Sorrel marshalled his backs as Fox, McNally and Owen all ran hard into the oppo's territory. After a series of hard drives into the visitors 22m, they spun the ball and centre Alistair Fox thundered across to score under the posts. Further spurred on by Alan Sillitto's "20 minutes of hard Dog boys, 20 minutes of Dog" Churchillian rallying cry, PJF cranked it up and controlled both the possession and territory. The Bulls tried hard to get back in to the match but missing 2 penalties, from short range and just off centre, thwarted them. After this their body language was negative.

PJF capitalised and attacked with venom. A solid set piece saw the ball passed quickly to Richard "Bilchy" Cutbill. The Bulls cover was bamboozled as they were unsure as to which appendage the Drunken Monkey was using to carry the ball. Bilch nimbly skipped under the posts to emulate his younger centre partner's earlier score.

The whistle followed and the crowd applauded, not only a job well done, but the fact that PJF stay 3 points clear at the top of London 3SE - an annual position they attain at this stage of the season.
