Making a bright start and using the wind in the first half PJF amassed a 26-0 lead. Tries by Kevin McNally, Matt Vaughan and a brace by Nick Owen set out PJF's stall in wanting to take their opponents on in the backs. Vaughany slotted 3 conversions and PJF asserted the authority they needed to break the home side.
However a provocative approach by the hosts unsettled PJF in the second half as we searched in vain for the official's whistle. This did not transpire and frustration set in. Gravesend began to secure possession and through their islanders attacked PJF for a sustained 15 minute period which eventually yielded their only score of the game.
PJF's pack were rewarded with a try from an effective rolling maul which Vaughany converted. Just reward for the constant pulling down of the rolling mauls that PJF used during the match. All in all it was a good team performance in the face of the tactics adopted by Gravesend. PJF trusted the system too much and became frustrated as incidents passed without judgement.
So on to the remaining two matches as we wait for T.Wells to slip up whilst we still win our games. We must also look over our shoulder as Dunstonians attempt to snatdh the second place play off spot from us. With these 2 sides facing each other in the last match of the season we can only win our games and trust destiny's fate.
Next League Game is on Saturday 8th April at home against Folkestone.
