Such was PJF’s forward dominance during this match, that if the power they generated could be harnessed, then the would have a reliable energy source for the next 5 years. Men of the Match went to the Front row of Cebreiro, Singleton and Cox, whose supr

Full credit to Aylesford who made PJF work hard for this win, yet despite the good result, the wind was taken out of our sails a bit as news that Tunbridge Wells had also won circulated the clubhouse. Status Quo at the top of the League with 3 games left. All PJF can do now is to win their remaining matches by big margins and hope that TW slip up.

Solid forward play allowed PJF to take an early initiative with the first 3 tries scored though the pack. First Amess and then Kerr benefited from good drives both crossing the whitewash. PJF’s power was further rewarded as the visitor’s only answer was to pull the maul down yielding a penalty try which Fisher converted.

Their opponents played hard and were thwarted on several occasions by the hard tackling and defensive work of Carson . A penalty either side of half time kept the scoreboard ticking over in PJF’s favour despite a try from Aylesford during a rare visit to the PJF half. The ground Aylesford made to score was courtesy of 5 consecutive penalties which saw them march 80 yards up the pitch.

Then PJF began to purr. Doyle and Fisher started to release the back line and through good recycling and quick hands Owen was freed on his wing. He took the opportunity well working hard to run in from 40 yards out. Then followed a sublime try orchestrated by centre Vaughan . PJF won a scrum in their own 22. Fisher laid off to Vaughan who exploited the slow defence and passed to Hickey, who in turn timed his pass to send O’Brien flying down the wing. An inside pass to the supporting Vaughan then led to an audacious return, behind the back pass to O’Brien. The defence completely bought it and O’Brien rounded off a fine personal display with the resultant try.

So on to next week – the Semi Final of the Surrey Cup. PJF are away to Richmond as they look to capitalise on this season’s successful cup run.

Unfortunately PJF’s 2nd team were defeated 15-0 by Sutton and Epsom, in the Quarter Finals of the Surrey Merit table. S&E proved too strong for them and played a more cohesive game. Adolphus Blankson and Stuart Sorrel carried PJF’s mantle both posting good performances during the game.
