PJF’s continuing habit of losing the first game after the Christmas break, means that they are going to have to pull their socks up over the next few weeks. If they have any aspirations of promotion the hard work and belief must start now.
A disappointed band of supporters felt that their side hadn’t turned up for this game and were frustrated with the tactics to run out of their own 22. When this was accompanied by the poor kicking from hand, the possession Tunbridge got put PJF under unnecessary pressure, leaving them to deal with the game on the back foot. PJF had a tendency to over commit themselves in the ruck leaving their opponents with greater numbers outside to exploit the advantage.
PJF scored 2 tries through a kick and chase from winger Nick Owen and a pick up and drive from prop Jim Brannigan. Scrum Half Pete Doyle tried hard to take something from the game, but on his own it was difficult. There was a period of pressure that PJF exerted in the last 15 minutes but their opponents defence proved well organised.
PJF have 2 home fixtures to try and get themselves back on track. Firstly they meet Camberley in the Surrey Cup followed by Dartfordians in the League on 21st Jan.
