PJF Stand Strong

The referee exacted his control on the situation as the game progressed, issuing 5 yellow cards, an unprecedented 4 to PJF who at one stage were down to 13 men.

Full credit to PJF who, despite lowering their level of play to their opponents, managed to score 5 tries. PJF skipper Scott Kerr led by example and mazed his way through the visitors defence from his own 22 to score the first of his 2 tries. His second was in contrast as he thundered over from 10 yds out taking 3 defenders with him. Matt Vaughan supported him with a brace from open, direct play, as PJF managed in places to string together several phases of play. Charlie Fisher added 10 points with his boot, kicking 2 conversions, a penalty and a drop goal. Pete Doyle attracted a penalty try when he was taken out by a high tackle as he looked certain to score under the posts.

Bognor scored 3 penalties and could only manage first phase possession from lineout ball. PJF were stronger in the scrum and much more effective on the loose where ther retention and release enabled them to secure good territorial advantage. The game was very stop start as the visitors tried everything to halt the home side's advance.

PJF were dissapointed with themselves for letting the spoiling tactics of their opponents affect their gamepplan and felt hard done by with their 4 sin binnings - 40 minutes or one half of a game. Still another 2 points sees them retain top spot in the league and an 83 beneficial points difference.

Next week they entertain Lordswood at the Pightle.
