The Committee has been busy laying down the foundations for next season

Dear Member
I am writing to you on behalf of the club committee and apologise for not having updated you earlier on the club’s current situation.
The committee have been very busy in a series of meetings to lay down foundations for next season.

Thus far we know that we shall be starting in Surrey 1 for 2016/17 with a 10 point deduction for the fixtures we failed to fulfil last season.

This was a major factor in our decision to withdraw the London League with two games to go. The number of penalty points we carried forward to next season were frozen at that point. It was looking increasingly unlikely that we would be able honour the last two fixtures and to have continued would have been to compound the situation and we could have had to carry forward more penalty points.

We have started our search for a new coach and interim measures have been put in place until an appointment can be made. On the player front we have been improving relations with the John Fisher School and are also looking to improving our direct communications with the students.

The RFU have a number of schemes that we are looking to use to facilitate the return of players from university at the weekends. There will also be discussions on how we can widen our net to find players in the local area that have either been out of the game for a while or are disaffected with their current playing situation.
The next month will be a period of intense activity to ensure that the club will be able to return to health.

We hope to have more news shortly. Again I apologise for not having kept the members informed and as soon as more details are filled in about the way the club intends to move forward you will be the first to know.
