Ian had been active and attending choir rehearsals until a few weeks ago when he suddenly became significantly weaker and was admitted to Chelsea and Westminster hospital.

Ian came to the club and was instantly recognised as an exceptionally good player. He soon became very involved in the club and became secretary where he worked hard to keep the club afloat when the stream of players had dried up with the closure of Purley Grammar school. He was one of the best.
